Optimized Solutions for Multicolor Experiments by Flow Cytometry

Training provisions

Two training provisions are offered with the purchase of a flow cytometer. Each training provision is valid for one enrollment by one person at an operator course conducted at a BD Biosciences training center during the year following the cytometer installation. After the training offer has been exercised, a tuition fee will be charged for any additional student. Discounts on additional trainings are available when purchased with the flow cytometer.

Please note that this is not valid for the purchase of a BD Accuri™ C6 flow cytometer. Training provisions are not included in the purchase offer.

Course descriptions

Each Operator Course is a practical-oriented training course that combines general and instrument specific background information with hands-on sessions. Participants can expect effective training classes that focus on individual hands-on sessions in small groups.


 
Basic BD FACSAria™ Operator Course

Course content*

Practical sessions cover:

  • Standard operation and maintenance procedures
  • Cytometer configuration & Quality control (CS&T)
  • Sorting into tubes and plates
  • Change of nozzles & stream setup for sorting
  • Multicolor data acquisition and sorting strategies
  • Data collection, gating and compensation with BD FACSDiva™ software
  • Tips for troubleshooting, sample preparation and handling

Theoretical presentations include:

  • Basic concepts of flow cytometry and cell sorting
  • Main parts and operational modes

Advanced BD FACSAria™ Operator Course

Course content*

Practical sessions cover:

  • Instrument components and main operation procedures
  • Application Settings
  • Automated compensation for different experimental conditions: compensation using beads and cells, fluorescent dyes, label-specific compensation
  • Acquisition, optimization of 8-10 color panels
  • Setup for sorting into tubes, slides and multiwell-plates
  • Strategies, optimization and sorting of:
    - specific subpopulations of regulatory T cells
    - rare cell populations (DC's)
    - bacteria
  • Cleaning routines and maintenance, including sample line change and preparation for aseptic sorting
  • "Let's Troubleshoot!" quiz & hands-on scenarios

Theoretical presentations & protocols include:

  • Digital Theory: Beyond the basics of Flow Cytometry, implications for analysis & sorting
  • Guidelines for correct compensation

Participants must have good knowledge of Flow cytometry and BD FACSDiva™ software, including general acquisition and analysis functions, automated compensation and basic CS&T tasks.

  • Multicolor gating and compensation

Multicolor Flow Cytometry: Optimized Solutions for Multicolor Experiments by flow Cytometry

Multicolor flow cytometry is a powerful tool for analyzing multiple cellular parameters simultaneously. This course will enable you to design and run multicolor experiments on a BD digital flow cytometer. You will learn the principles of multicolor panel design and how to optimize your cytometer settings to your application.
