FEATURES

The BD FACSDuet™ Sample Preparation System delivers flexibility in panel design and walkaway capabilities by accommodating up to 46 reagent vials in two separate racks

  • With the use of vial adaptors (5 different types), the system enables a wide variety of reagent vials from many manufacturers, including: BD, Beckman Coulter, BioLegend, Cytognos, Dako, Invitrogen and Life Technologies

  • The system accommodates two (2) different types of antibody vial rack: one (top image) is designed for accommodating vials from BD and other manufacturers (with or without adaptors) – like BioLegend, Cytognos, Dako, Invitrogen and Life Technologies, while the Dual-Size reagent rack (bottom image) is designed to specifically accommodate Beckman Coulter vials (with or without adaptors in positions 1 to 12) as well as those from BD and other manufacturers

  • In addition to the barcode on the antibody vial (4), the reagent rack has 3 barcodes:  identifying the rack (1), identifying the reagent position (2), and identifying the empty position (3). Barcodes on reagent racks and antibody vials drive reagent traceability, efficient antibody management and reduction of reagent waste.

  • Reagent cocktailing functionality allows on-board automated antibody cocktail preparation, eliminating the risk for errors in manual pipetting and driving automated recording of all used antibodies for easier tracking and auditing.

  • Cap racks are available to avoid misplacing caps and antibody cross-contamination.

The BD FACSDuet™ Sample Preparation System allows for onboard automated antibody cocktail preparation eliminating the risk of errors due to manual pipetting

  • The system enables the automated recording of all used antibodies for easier tracking and auditing.  Part number, lot number and expiry date of the cocktail are also tracked and recorded to ensure quality and consistency in laboratory workflow.

  • Each antibody cocktail can be made from a maximum of 45 unique conjugates in a single cocktailing vial.  Users’ cocktail recipes are stored in the software and available for subsequent preparations of the same cocktail, guaranteeing reproducibility of protocol and quality of product independently from the user.

The BD FACSDuet Premium Sample Preparation System at the Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust laboratory

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a leading UK reference centre for leukaemia and lymphoma testing.  In this testimonial, David Bloxham and Dr. Fiona Cullen discuss their experience with the BD System (BD FACSDuet Premium Sample Preparation System and BD FACSLyric Flow Cytometer) and the value its implementation could bring to the laboratory.

Listen to the testimonial from Dr. Timothy Farren, Head of Immunophenotyping, Barts Heath NHS Trust, talking about how the BD FACSDuet™ System will help with ISO 15189 compliance.

“The automation allows faster process, faster throughput, increased capacity”

— Nicole Gresham,

Associate Director of Pathology, Barts Health NHS Trust, UK.

“BD FACSDuet™ Sample Preparation System—a real game changer in flow cytometry,”

— Mr. Chris Scott

Lead Biomedical Scientist, Immunology Department, Barts Health NHS Trust, UK

“The integrated BD FACSDuet™-BD FACSLyric™ System satisfies our requirements of increasing efficiency, standardizing processes and improving quality.”

“At last, a fully integrated end-to-end walkaway solution, which is going to make our lives significantly easier. It reduces errors in both the pre-analytical and analytical phases, leading to increased productivity and efficiency, but most importantly provides a comprehensive fully auditable account of the whole process. Finally, a solution that creates capacity to allow us to meet our key performance indicators.”

“I require all the monoclonal antibodies used, the ancillary reagents, tubes, the QC materials to be linked to an exact patient…this is an essential laboratory process and it is also mandatory in order to maintain ISO 15189 accreditation."
