Preparation And Storage
Store vials at 2°C–8°C. Conjugated forms should not be frozen. Protect from exposure to light. Each reagent is stable until the expiration date shown on the bottle label when stored as directed.
The CD80 antibody, clone L307.4, is derived from the fusion of Sp2/0 mouse cells with spleen cells from a C3H/HeN mouse immunized with B7/SL.2 mouse L-cell transfectant. The CD80 antibody recognizes a 60-kilodalton (kDa) transmembrane glycoprotein that is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The CD80 antigen acts as the ligand for both the CD28 and CTLA-4 glycoproteins, which are expressed on T lymphocytes. The CD80 antigen interacts with the CD28 and CTLA-4 glycoproteins to provide a stimulus for T-lymphocyte activation. The interaction of the CD80 and CD28 antigens mediates heterotypic cell adhesion and also results in augmentation of T-lymphocyte proliferation and cytokine production. The ligation of the CD80 and CD28 antigens also enhances cytotoxic effectors of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). Monoclonal antibodies directed against the CD28 or CD80 antigens inhibit alloantigen and mitogen-induced proliferative responses.
