Several gene regulatory proteins contain "zinc finger" domains of about 30 amino acids and N-terminal regions of about 75 amino acids, named the Krüppel-associated box A (KRAB-A). The KRAB-A domains have been implicated in transcriptional repression. KRIP-1 (KRAB-A-interacting protein 1) was identified as a result of its interaction with a KRAB-A domain. KRIP-1 is 834 amino acids with an apparent molecular weight of 105 kDa. Sequence alignments indicate that KRIP-1 shares identity with TIF-1, a transcriptional regulator of nuclear receptors. The region responsible for the transcriptional activity in KRIP-1 is located in the C-terminal region, which also contains a Cys4-His-Cys3 PHD finger domain.

This antibody is routinely tested by western blot analysis. Other applications were tested at BD Biosciences Pharmingen during antibody development only or reported in the literature.
