Useful search tips to help refine and improve your search

Search is the easiest way to quickly find products and documents of interest. Here’s a quick list of some of the most popular search tools to help refine and improve your search.

How to use multi-term queries

By default, a search query will be set to "Match all terms" and will return products and documents that include all the terms that you have entered.

Example:

  • CD3 human
  • CD3 FITC
  • CD3 human FITC

Alternatively, if you want to perform a wider search, selecting “Match any term” will return results that include any of the terms entered.

Search

Filters can be used to narrow the results of your search to find the exact product (or products) you are looking for. Using the drop-down menus for “Attributes” and Categories” allows you to filter your results first based on broad areas and then on more specific categories. Once selected, the Category menu will automatically refresh to include all the possible values for the selected attribute.

An example search for a specific antibody product: using specificity and reactivity filters

Step 1
Step 1: Enter the specificity in the search box

Enter the desired specificity in the search box and click the Search button.

Step 2
Step 2: Use the filter to narrow the selection

To narrow the selection:

  1. Select Target Species from the Attribute menu.
  2. The Category menu will refresh with all applicable values for Target Species.
  3. Select the desired target species from the Category menu and click the Search button.
  4. Select other filters such as Format or Clone from the Attribute menu to further narrow the product results.
Step 3
Step 3: Use the breadcrumbs

As you filter your search results, “breadcrumbs” are created to identify the most recent filter applied (in blue) and previous filters applied (in orange). You can return to a broader category by clicking the orange breadcrumbs.

Step 4
Step 4: Sort your results

Clicking the name of a column will sort the results in ascending order of the selected column for example, clicking List Price will sort all the items from least expensive to most expensive). When selected, the column will be highlighted to indicate that it is being used to sort the results.
