BD Cell Signaling Pathways

Tutorial

BD™ Cell Pathways provides interactive tools to optimize experimental design.

Time spent optimizing a specific experiment can be reduced with readily accessible information on reagent availability for specific applications.

The IL-2 signaling pathway

The view under the Pathway tab for a molecule provides a visual representation of the canonical signaling pathways that this molecule participates in. All relevant pathways are displayed in a menu on the top left of the page. Users can select the pathways most relevant to their research to identify upstream activators and inhibitors or downstream targets of a gene. In this view of an individual pathway, IL-2 signaling, the orange molecule denotes the molecule of interest, and blue molecules denote members of the pathway that have associated products available from BD Biosciences.

Molecule type, relationship, and modification states

A legend in the top right portion of the page is available for referencing the types of molecules in the pathway (ie, chemical or drug, cytokine, phosphatase, etc) and the relationship between molecules (ie, inhibits, binds, etc). Print, zoom, fit-to-window, and panning tools are available in the toolbar. Additionally, clicking the interaction line in the pathway diagram provides a pop-up window that describes the type and number of reported interactions. More pathway, molecular interaction, and gene details are available through quick links to the full Ingenuity's IPA software.

Available flow cytometry reagents for the IL-2 signaling pathway

To help researchers optimize their experiments, a checkbox list on the left-hand side enables identification of products that are available for specific applications such as flow cytometry or Western blotting. In this example, molecules with red outlines have available reagents for a flow cytometry experiment.

A summary of available BD reagents for the AKT1 kinase

Clicking another molecule in the pathway provides quick access to a summary of the available BD reagents for specific applications. In this case, the AKT kinase group of molecules in the IL-2 signaling pathway has been selected. Clicking the Members link in the pop-up window provides the individual genes in this group and a summary of the available BD Biosciences reagents for specific applications. Clicking the molecule name provides the full gene summary page.
