BD FACSAria II cell sorter

Frequently Asked Questions: Fluidics

What is the role of the fluidics cart?

The fluidics cart supplies sheath and cleaning fluids and collects waste from the cytometer. The fluidics cart holds a 10-L stainless steel sheath tank, a 5-L stainless steel ethanol shutdown tank, a 10-L waste container, and three 5-L auxiliary cleaning fluid containers. The stainless steel tank can be autoclaved for aseptic cleaning. The fluidics cart supplies both air pressure and vacuum. The air pressure range is from 5 to 75 psi.

Can I control the air pressure?

Yes. BD FACSDiva™ software allows you to adjust the pressure to accommodate a variety of cell sorting applications.

How does the new fluidics system improve my research?

The fluidics system, along with new software wizards, makes aseptic setup easy, ensuring an aseptic sort. Instead of concentrating on the cleanliness of the sort, you can concentrate on your sort results.

How do I set up for an aseptic sort?

BD FACSDiva software v6.1.1 has a new Aseptic Sort Setup Wizard that guides you through the aseptic sort setup procedure.
