BD Recharge
The first chemically defined (CD) supplement that offers productivity comparable to yeast peptones.
Chemically Defined. Animal Free. Protein Free.
BD Recharge was developed using CHO cell lines and is recommended for applications that are responsive to yeast-based supplements or peptones. BD Recharge eliminates unnecessary constituents to maximize cellular activation and protein production. The result is exceptional protein quality and yield comparable to peptone supplementation.
BD Recharge includes only the key bioactive and nutritional constituents of the yeast peptone. Since only stimulatory components remain, there is no need to remove extraneous components later, reducing the burden of downstream purification.

Low component variability
Animal-free peptone supplements are derived from organisms like plants or yeast whose inherent biological composition can vary from one preparation to another. In a manufacturing operation that strives for standardization and reproducibility, increased consistency is always a key goal.
As a chemically defined media supplement, BD Recharge is subject to far lower lot-to-lot component variability than peptones.
Component variability of a yeast extract supplement vs. BD Recharge
Multiple lots of yeast extract (YE) and BD Recharge were analyzed by high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) to measure the recovery of their components compared to input formulation.
Results:
From one lot to another, BD Recharge was more consistent in its chemical composition.
