Eliminate cell scraping and manual cell counting with fluorescence blocking membranes.

BD FluoroBlok™ cell culture inserts are designed with a patented light-tight PET membrane that efficiently blocks the transmission of light within the range of 490-700nm, allowing fluorescence detection in a simplified and non-destructive manner. Fluorescently labeled cells present in the top chamber of the insert are shielded from bottom-reading fluorescence plate readers and microscopes by the BD FluoroBlok membrane. Once labeled cells migrate through the membrane, they are easily detected by a bottom-reading fluroescence plate reader thereby eliminating cell scraping and manual cell counting. This non-destructive detection method enables both kinetic and endpoint migration and invasion assays.

Improve Efficiency with Optimized Assay Systems

Optimized assay systems are available for in vitro angiogenesis and tumor cell invasion assays. BD BioCoat™ angiogenesis systems are 3um inserts with biological coatings optimized for use in endothelial cell migration and invasion. BD BioCoat tumor invasion systems, 8um inserts pre-coated with BD Matrigel™ matrix, for tumor cell invasion assays provide more reliable data with lot-to-lot consistent protein coating.

Multiwell plates for use with individual cell culture inserts

BD Falcon™ cell culture companion plates are designed for use with individual BD Falcon and BD BioCoat cell culture inserts. When the cell culture inserts are seated within the notches of the companion plate, media will not wick up between the insert and well wall. The patented BD Falcon low-evaporation lid provides a tortuous air-passage system that reduces evaporation and contamination. individual cell culture inserts may be pushed to the sides of the plate well for easy pipet access to the basolateral well.

BD BioCoat deep-well plate is a novel plate designed for use with 6-well BD BioCoat or BD Falcon cell culture inserts. The basolateral compartment of one well of the BD BioCoat deep-well plate can hold up to 17 mL media as compared to 2.5 mL in the basolateral compartment of a regular 6-well plate. This larger media volume reduces the risk of contamination by decreasing the frequency of cell feeding during extended cell culture periods or when culturing cells at the airliquid interface.

Multiwell plates available for use with BD multiwell insert systems

BD Biosciences 24-multiwell insert systems are compatible with all BD Falcon and BD BioCoat 24-well plates. These plates should be used when individual basolateral compartments are needed for each insert, (i.e., transport, co-culture, migration or invasion assays).

BD Falcon 96-square well, flat bottom plate is designed for use with BD FluoroBlok 96-multiwell insert systems. Media will not wick between the insert and the square well wall.
